From dried fruit you can make delicious compote in no time that upgrades your dessert to a Michelin star level.

Ingredients

  • 100 gram dried fruit (apricots or cranberries bijvoorbeeld_

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • 250 gram cane sugar

  • 7 Cardamom pods

  • dash orange blossom water

Cooking time

  • If necessary, cut the dried fruit a little smaller. Put it in a pan with enough water that it is just covered. Add the cinnamon sticks and the cardamom pods. Let everything simmer gently until the water is absorbed by at least half. Then add the sugar and let it ‘melt’ well and form the compote because it thickens. You can now also add a splash of orange blossom water if you like.
  • Let the compote cool. It will then thicken even further. Delicious to eat like this, with a pastry, with ice cream, with yogurt.
