Turnips, they are tasty, crunchy and versatile in use. In this recipe I transform them into a Middle Eastern dish, a delicious creamy spicy sauce with chickpeas that can be booked as comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 750 gram turnips

  • 1 pot chick peas

  • 3 Onions

  • 10 cloves garlic

  • 0,5 table spoon each of cumin powder, coriander powder and smoked paprika

  • 100 ml tahina

  • salt and pepper

  • olive oil

Cooking time

  • Cut the onions into cubes and the garlic into pieces. Fry them very gently in the oil until they have become completely soft and sweet. This can take up to 10 minutes.
    Wash the turnips, cut off the head and butt and cut them into cubes.
  • Add the turnips to the pan when the onions and garlic are nice and soft.
    Stir now and then.
  • Make a tahina sauce with the tahina and water. The sauce must have the substance of custard, so to speak. So add a little more or less water and tahina to achieve that result.
